The updated Ministry Maps mobile app (v.4) is finally ready for release and is already available for Android on Google Play! It is scheduled to release on the Apple App Store on the 30th October 2020.
The new app supports the Online Editor, bringing features such as NH’s, booking maps out and having more than one map set in the app.
It doesn’t support map sets made with the old legacy system – the Windows Editor (see this guide on how to migrate to the new system), so everyone using the old system will need to recreate their maps in the new Online Editor.
If a publisher downloads the updated app, they cannot access maps made with the old system. That’s why there will be two versions of the mobile app in the app stores for some time – the Lite version of Ministry Maps is the old one and is compatible with the legacy Windows Editor.
Next year in February the legacy file uploader will be discontinued and the Lite versions of the apps taken off the appstore. This allows 3 months for map brothers to update to the new system, and get publishers to update to the new mobile app. See the Help page for guides.
The Online Editor can be accessed from any device, making updating the maps sets a much easier and faster process than using .zip and .mmaps files. Updates made are synced to the app when a publisher opens it for the first time or clicks the update arrows at the top right.
